Back in the saddle again
Mar. 18th, 2004 02:28 pmRandom notes from NYC and beyond...
The good news is that I did not have to sleep on the concourse at LaGuardia with 170 kids and 35 adults. We managed to get out of Dodge on the last flight to Chicago during a snowstorm.
The bad news is that as I predicted, I am now sick. It's a given -- if I don't get my beauty sleep, I get sick. Fuzzy head, congestion, cough.
And home alone, I find I miss many of the kids. This was a particularly artsy group - choir, band, orchestra. It was an interesting trip. Have you ever tried to walk through Times Square with a group of 200? Thought not. Moving a small army would have been easier. We all froze our asses off at the Statue of Liberty in a stiff wind. My daughter's jazz group sang at Swing 46, a jazz club. We discovered that often, New Yorkers who work with the public pull out their most hostile behavior for groups of teens, as if they don't remember what it was like to be that age themselves.
I dropped some cold hard cash at Virgin Megastore on (what else?) Brazilian jazz, Celtic rock, and '80's new wave.
When I got home, Quest telephone had bolloxed up our computer line, so no internet until last night. Took me hours to catch up on a weeks' worth of LJ and fic from only 6 days gone.
You prolific puppies.
