Oho. Here's a snippet I pulled out of "Telling Hogwarts" because it was too serious and schmoopy for that whimsical fic. In fact, it's probably wise that this never makes it into any fic of mine.

Can you tell it was for Isis?

Draco fumbled a small box from his pocket and opened it with a flourish. "I wanted to give you this. An anniversary present."

Harry was embarrassed, then confused when he noticed the box was empty. But Draco pantomimed pulling something out, then beckoned Harry forward. Complying silently, Harry watched Draco's hands draw around his neck, then he felt the unexpected weight of an invisible chain being fastened there.

"Now put your hand here, next to mine, on the chain," Draco instructed him, and Harry complied. The other boy had his wand out, then whispered a few words that Harry didn't recognize. Suddenly, the chain appeared, a finely spun rope of shining silver links.

"Only you and I can see it," Draco told him.

Harry could see some kind of charm resting on his neck and he drew it closer until he could identify it. "It's a squid."

"To remind you of our first day together."
