Listen to the above song with me: Personal Jesus (acoustic)
I've been quiet. Did you notice?
Mostly I've been either getting ready to go, gone, or recovering from being gone to Santa Fe. I trot off to a yearly workshop in water issues (or, more accurately, lack-of-water issues) in the Espanola Valley. Being there always reminds me of reading
ajhalluk's The Kindly Ones, because two years ago, I held a sneak preview of that wonderful story in my hot little hands on the drive down. And reread it frequently throughout the week. Then there is the remodeling of our family room, which always takes way more time than planned.
So what do I have to tell you after more than two weeks of silence?
1) You can pass off any meal as haute cuisine if it's got a bay leaf in it. Okay, so this list isn't in order of importance.
2)
yeats has written a lovely H/D fic: Late Edition. She wrote my wonderful
merry_smutmas fic, and I'm in love with her style.
3) I have no fewer than four stories percolating in my brain, but I need to make myself stop faffing around on LJ and write the buggers. But then, you all are being silent, too. Who will even bother with the non-H/D ones?
I'm keeping my hand in, though, at
hpshortfics:
Wild Oats - Snape and cereal was the prompt. I do the unthinkable for me.
My Favorite Things White dress shirt and a Weasley.
Untitled. Snape/Draco and corsetry. There are two parts to this one; mine starts after Goseaward's.
HP-Narnia Crossover . Snow - Draco.
4) The Brazilian singer, Maria Bethania, looks so much like Snape as to be his twin sister. But can he sing like this: Maria Bethania - Ambar?

I will bother with anything you write.
*is ridiculous fangirl*
*hares off to read Late Edition, because you're in love with her style*

Date: 2006-03-19 09:28 pm (UTC)And "Late Edition" is somehow both sexy and droll. Thank you for the recommendation.
Also went and read the short stories you linked. I didn't comment over there (because I wasn't sure of the protocol and should in any event probably try to keep my incoherent adoration relatively contained), but "Wild Oats" is--just--just *flails* incredible. Every word is so delicate and perfectly placed like a trail of pebbles leading you over a cliff. Amazing, truly.

Date: 2006-03-19 03:58 am (UTC)I look forward to reading your stuff, too, as always. And...wrote some sexy poetry while you were gone, if you feel like checking it out. ;)

Date: 2006-03-20 12:03 am (UTC)I like my Falstaff one, even though the actual Falstaff is more of a reprehensible character than my narrator here.
Some of my poems, like "Mermaid," are triggered by lovely people I see at the gym, and some by my imagination, and some...well, that would be telling. ;)

Date: 2006-03-19 06:26 am (UTC)I saw whales off the west coast near Ucluelet and a sea otter playing on the sand at Half Moon Bay. It was all so amazing. I'm taking hubby next year for his 50th birthday.
Re the haute cuisine. It passes for that here if the sauce has pretty swirls in it.

Date: 2006-03-19 09:46 am (UTC)Thanks for the links - I haven't heard of hpshortfics before and I could do with some nice things to read on a Sunday morning.

Date: 2006-03-19 10:52 pm (UTC)HPshortfics is a community full of cool people (and me). I should have explained that a challenge is given based on the night's theme, and we have 20 minutes (plus or minus) to come up with something. Time to edit the ficlets is at a premium, so I'm always in awe of what everyone else comes up with.

Date: 2006-05-10 12:55 am (UTC)By the way I just love your stories. "A Thousand Beautiful Things" and "Delicate Sound of Thunder" are two of the best fics I've ever read. Oh, I knew you had to like brazilian music! You have a fic called "The Waters of March"! It couldn't be just coincidence. ^^

Date: 2006-05-14 02:16 am (UTC)Yes, I adore Brazilian music, although I'm American and don't have any real knowledge. I just look for music I like. I listened to lots of versions of Waters of March while writing that first story of mine, so I had to use the title and some lyrics.
Thank you for your kind words about the novels. I always appreciate knowing that people liked it.
