My LJ friends are doing cool and amazing things....

[livejournal.com profile] mayflo has drawn another Draco/Harry picture from A Thousand Beautiful Things. This one is from the scene where Draco says goodbye to Harry and Hogwarts. I'm so blessed!

[livejournal.com profile] anno_domino has done some Draco as a model sketches, too. I can't tell you how amazing it is to have some of you artists become inspired by my words.

[livejournal.com profile] jamoche is a new-to-HP writer who's got this intriguing story on her LJ, The Language of Potions. It hints of Draco/Neville, and is a WIP right now...so you know, with my track record of reading WIPS, that I must really like it!

Old timer [livejournal.com profile] florahart (oh, I bet she'll like that epithet!) wrote one of her birthday ficlets, Open Door, per my request: Draco/Neville and hurt/comfort. This is Draco/Neville day here on the ol' LJ.

Slashers who are heading to The Witching Hour should join [livejournal.com profile] whslashers so we can all connect ahead of time.

Oh, you're wondering how I am? Well, we're awash in 16 inches of snow, enough to cancel school today. I decided it would be a great time to add a cold to the list of illnesses I've enjoyed this month. I was part of that silly "ban list" kerfuffle whereby a bunch of us were accused of hacking photos of an alleged underaged girl and pandering them to porn sites. And which had absolutely nothing to do with that at all.

And that sequel? Delayed. Again. I can't seem to unfuck the ending. [livejournal.com profile] ravurian, you are not allowed to say any sweet, mitigating things here.

But I finished reading The Persian Boy and I think I shall dedicate my life to writing nothing but PWPs about Bagoas the beautiful eunuch from now on.

Actually, and this is no joke, I have an idea for John LeCarre slash. I shall amaze you all by writing in a non-existent fandom about characters no one knows.

Ha! I posted that comment to her LJ, in one of those "Post a random poll" memes. Because of all our snow here; the peach trees were in bloom but I presume any future peaches are out of the running this year.

Now see, I thought you'd be all, "Ooh. Bagoas." And encouraging my post-Alexander-death slashy thoughts about Bagoas and Ismenios. In Alexandria. Hot sun beating on the porch as they exchange friendly greetings under the cool shade of the veranda. Or whatever passes for a veranda in Egypt.

But Draco/Neville? Good, too.

Oh, and the brief appearances of Bagoas in Funeral Games are wonderful. Worth reading the book for. (Want the ebook?)

And Le Carré slash? Wheeeee!!!! Jerry Westerby/Karla? Peter Guillam/Bill Haydon? Lady Anne/Connie Sachs?

Date: 2005-04-12 04:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com
Oh, boy, Westerby and Karla squicks even me!

Hmmm. Peter and Bill? Peter isn't at all impressed by Bill for most of the book.

The Ann/Connie is intriguing, though.

No, I'm thinking Bill Haydon/Jim Prideaux, which is strongly hinted at in the book.

Okay, now you have me thinking about Peter Guillam, whom I adore in the book. And I'd pair him with Fawn. Because, you know, a guy named Fawn. Has to be hot.

Oh, I picked up the ebooks you sent me a few weeks ago. I bought the dead tree versions for Fire From Heaven and Persian Boy, though. Haven't read the first yet. I plan to read it all. So good.

Am on TENTERHOOKS! GIMEE!

I know this sounds looking for slash in a haystack, but I've always thought that there was something between Bill and George at university. Perhaps part of the hold Bill had over George.

That's interesting. I never caught that. I was thinking of Jim Prideaux/Bill, though, which is danced around several times.

I listened to The Persian Boy as a book on tape and my poor stepdaughter had to be around while I was making dinner and had a major crying jag sniffles as it came to a close. She is absolutely amazing. (that's Mary Renault, that is)

You do know that she was a student of JRRT's, right, and he wasn't really looking at the PWP elements of it?

And god, does she have beautiful turns of phrases, just like your work.

I'll fight others off, if you're in need of a second or eleventh beta. Really. I know there can be too many cooks in the kitchen, and too many betas, but if you'd care for a semi-quick scan, I'm here for you.

I am just learning about all this - the fic and the author. [livejournal.com profile] shezan got me reading The Persian Boy just this month. And there's a fandom and everything. I'm into it!

I have, um, five betas. They're all wonderful and talented. I'm just struggling to live up to their expectations (and unfortunately falling short at the moment). They are all kind and thoughtful, and they definitely do not tell me "this sucks" even in the parts where it sucks.

Did you see I recced you in my last LJ? That was my week of rereading every single one of your fics, my dear.

I was part of that silly "ban list" kerfuffle whereby a bunch of us were accused of hacking photos of an alleged underaged girl and pandering them to porn sites.

Whoa. What? I didn't hear about that. (Of course this might be because I have been brain-dead from Boyd spam - did you see the tie-yanking, boy-touching I posted recently? Guh)

Sequel delayed? Oh noooooo.....(Um, like I'm any help not giving you beta-y things *ducks*)

Begoas porn! Oh yes.

Much love to you. *hugs*

From: [identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com
I did indeed see the tie-yanking. Oh did I ever. You posted that when I was at a decided low point and it helped enormously.

Actually, I haven't got anything back from any of my original 4 betas, but [livejournal.com profile] ravurian has been working with it and me. It's mostly the ending that's fucked. So I'm thinking it over. Again.

But I do need the name of a second big studio besides Elite to fill in a sentence. Solange has been downgraded to a wanna-be who is sleeping her way to the top now. Actually, that Solange scene could use a look-over since I took your advice.

Date: 2005-04-13 01:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] k-rebel.livejournal.com
I'm glad the tie-yanking helped you out even a wee bit.

You haven't gotten anything back? Oh woe! *now feels really bad*

And you're going to kill me for this, but did you know that Elite dissolved their men's division? (Just a week after Boyd left to go to IMG) It's no more. So um just thought I might put that out there - don't know if it really matters. But there are a number of agencies you could use - but do you want an agency or a studio? Different things.

Hmm, I'm just off to dinner w/a friend, but promise to have a look-through when I get home and see what thoughts I have.

Elite is still okay for the time frame of the sequel - 2002. And I suppose I need the name of ... actually...I don't know. When you come to that sentence, you'll know what I want to say - that if Solange is all that, what the hell is she doing at JayKay? She should be at ....

Hi~! Oooh, you've pimped me! XD I'm blessed!

Actually I was feeling a bit sheepish tho' because I've been meaning to do it properly (inked and coloured) but I'm sorta stuck with the one drawing I've been beta-ed but been suggested to change the whole composition. It's the one I wanted to get it done and give you, but I'm not sure whether to follow the suggestion and discard this one or go on with it and see what I can do with it... Not spoil the fun by telling you what exactly it is but it's from ATBT >:)
But then it occured to me, how about you suggesting me up to, say, 5 of your favourite scenes and I pick one for you? So how's that sound? So I'd do two coloured fanarts? How's that sound?

On another note, I wanted to tell you this post by [livejournal.com profile] skuf!!!Wheeee! Congrats!! *hugs* I know you'd make it XD <3<3<3

From: [identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com
5 fav scenes from ATBT? Oh, let me think.

1) the kiss in the corridor at Hogwarts

2) The broomstick chase scene

3) The shower make-up sex scene (if you're feeling particularly brave)

4) It might be fun as an artist to try the scene of polyjuicing Harrys all around the disguised Draco.

5) Draco speaking for the first time after all those long months!

skuf's list was a total surprise. Those kind of accolades always are to me. I appreciate them so much, but I can't fathom that I'm on the same list as my favorite authors. Thanks for your congrats!

Actually, would a cover to ATBT be any use to you? I've got an idea floating around my head...

From: [identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com
Oh, sorry - I corrected your name. That's twice I've misspelled it - I have that page bookmarked and messed it up there, too. I guess I just never knew how to spell excalibur correctly.

I'd adore a cover! I love it when artists are inspired by my writing. It's a huge treat.
