painless_j's urging, I'm attempting to write something I swore I'd never write, but it was requested, so.... It's going pretty well, actually.
Like a lot of you, I was checking out the pages of comments on
starrysummer's post of secret fandom wishes. Some are practical ('I wish I could find a decent beta who'd be tough with me'), some are pipe dreams ('I wish BNFs would fangirl me even though I don't write or draw and never comment), but they all seem to be heartfelt, and sometimes a little sad.
I think what we are all looking for is to feel like we matter somehow to a fandom we've fallen in love with. Unrequited love sucks. I don't think that desire is different whether your friends list is 5 or 750 members. Hell, I'd love more comments on my fics, I'd love a certain someone to pop up and say they liked my last story, I'd love to have more art drawn from my stories. But I'm grateful for what I do have. Because even if I haven't managed to friend each and every one of you back (and I'd love to, but time constraints just make that impossible), you do mean something to me. You are important, and I hope you all realize that.
So like everyone else, I sometimes wait in line for fanart. I finally got around to adding Harry Potter and the Slytherin-Coloured Lamborghini to my Skyehawke archive, just so I could show off this picture by
fiendling once more. She didn't know she was making it for this story (well, I explained it to her), but I'm as thrilled with it as if she had.
I've signed up for Lumos 2006, so you can find me in those artists' lines once again. I dreamed about it last night - I was caught in the hotel crowd with a bunch of senior citizens who were there for the golf, and I tried to hide my Slash button from them.
I'm dancing in my chair this morning to "I Knew You Were Waiting". If you download it, you, too, can dance in your chairs. How can you go wrong with George Michael and Aretha! So mock me all you like for my new obsession with Georgie (and yes,
ravurian, I am looking at you), but I was unconscious for most of the eighties. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
It's almost noon and I'm still in my jammies. Oh, how decadent!
