The best-laid plans...

This was not the Sunday I had planned....

What I planned:

Sleep in.
Do a little gardening.
Check out my daughter's Brownie troop reunion now that they're graduating high school.
Watch my son's soccer game.
Greet my husband, back from a weekend backpacking.

What I did:

Spend last night trying to get my son to stop barfing.
Took him to ER.
Waited while they removed his appendix.

The good news is that it had not ruptured. The unusual twist is that if he were not diabetic, I probably would have waited until it did. But because any illness is so potentially dangerous for him, off we went to ER, and all in good time.

If they get his sugars under control, he'll be home tomorrow.

I actually do denial real well. Most of the day I didn't think there was going to be anything seriously wrong, until they shot us off to Children's Hospital. And I drove through LoDo and thought of the last time I was there - with you, of course.

All day he looked so pathetic, though. I am a great actress.

Oh you poor thing!!! And your poor boy! Glad it wasn't ruptured and that it looks like he'll get to go home soon. But still...

He was sleeping when I left. So cute - well, except for the tons of IV tubes going in. He's so tall he almost doesn't fit in the bed.

The surgery uses tiny incisions, so recovery should be quick.

No more soccer season, though.

our soccer season was over yesterday but my boy couldn't play the championship, b/c he was sick...well, as bad as he is, he wouldn't have been much on the field anyway. LOL.
