As soon as I saw the line "...by Helen Bannerman" on the Story of Little Kettlehead I yelled, "OMIGOD THE AUTHOR OF LITTLE BLACK SAMBO NOTHING GOOD CAN COME OF THIS."

Thanks for the links, hon! Awkward family photos is hilarious! Instead of going to bed, I've been howling with laughter here :)

Have fun and rest a lot!

Oh, the Swedish pop bands - but I'd protest that term; this music is not "pop" at all; it's a genre all on its own (as horrible as its visual aesthetics, in my opinion) and still going strong.

I actually grew up with Little Kettle-Head. "Clip - clap - clapper - apper apper" is a phrase that has echoed through my life so much that I began to think I'd made it up. Why didn't I think of asking the Internet?

I also had Little Black Sambo, by the same author. While I understand that the language and depictions of the people of color is no longer culturally appropirate, I would like to point out that Sambo is in fact a child who is actually quite clever and empowered. He outsmarts the tigers and defeats them without any sort of magical intervention and saves his own self. Few fairy tale children besides Hansel and Gretel actually exercise that much agency on their own behalf.

On the other hand, I'm inclined to think that one of the key themes of Little Kettle-Head is how little attention these parents paid to their children. Nobody really seemed to notice anything amiss.

I love how creepy My First Dictionary is sometimes. Must check out the others. Thanks!

Have a great holiday. Bath is one of my favourite towns, btw. There's a great Nepalese restaurant there if you're interested. Would love to see you when you're in London – is there a meetup of some sort happening? I'm so out of the loop ...

Aaaugh, your message got lost in my in-bin until I found it upon my return!!! Sorry to have missed you in my trip. London was great - heck, all the cities were great. I especially liked Bath. The weather was amazingly nice nearly every day of our journey - I gather you've had a druoght in London for most of September.

Anyway, again I'm sorry not to have seen this in time to do any good.

Hey, I just reread your story, A Thousand Beautiful Things and wanted to leave a comment. I thought it was brilliantly written, planned, and executed. Well done on the characterizations(especially Draco). The story was incredibly believable and one of those that makes me proud to support the H/D ship. I hope you're still writing. Let me know of any other H/D fic that you've written and I'll definately be reading. :)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if JKR did make it a bit non-canon after I wrote it (I did scoop her with the multi-Harry flying scene, I am proud to say!)

I'm still writing (slowly). Links to the other stuff I've done (including the sequel to ATBT) can be found in my user info page - all my stories are on Skyehawke under the name Duinn Fionn (don't ask, hahaha!)
