So yeah, we got dumped on. It's hard to measure how much snow we actually got because it is so heavy and wet it compressed into a dense mess. The mountains to our west got between 3 and 4 feet, the plains to the east got tornadoes, and we got thundersnow - weird to hear thunder during a blizzard. It's melting fast, though.

A second recording of Susan Boyle has appeared on YouTube - she made it for a charity CD about 10 years ago, and it's even more lovely than the other one:

Cry Me A River - Susan Boyle

Bloody hell. That's good - it's so at odds with how she looks, though, as though the voice was blasted out from some other part. This is going to be interesting.

I adore that song anyway. She's got such emotion and depth, too, and terrific pitch. It's so fun to cheer her on!

We got...1/8 inch early yesterday morning, which melted pretty much by 9 am. Today is lovely and sunny and warm!

Now it's raining. E. was shovelling and it's like shoveling pea soup, it's so wet.

I-70 was closed between Golden and Vail from early Fri evening, so all those Evergreen commuters were SOL. I still don't know if it's opened yet - they were triggering avalanches this morning so drivers wouldn't do it instead.

Luckily there weren't many leaves out yet or all the trees would be breaking. We've got one of our neighbor's limbs in our yard as it is (not big, though, luckily).

sorry you have snow:(
It's 80F here today and we're headed to the botanical gardens/kiddie amusement park for the afternoon. I love CA despite the fact that my sales tax rate is now 9.25% *cries* (and we have a 9.9% state income tax *cries more* and crap old small houses are the prices of large estates elsewhere...). So just remember good weather has a big price tag.

It shall be very interesting to see what happens w/Susan Boyle's career. Her voice has a lovely tone and she has very good phrasing. My money says that some folks are going to give her the pro make-over.

Yeah, my fantasy self lives in CA but my real self is here. At least it's worlds better than where I grew up - Detroit. I don't know why people stay there - the weather is awful in both summer and winter and now the economy is well and truly fucked.

Apparently Simon Cowell has taken her under wing. I imagine her first album will be a big success.

Wot? Snow? Blizzard?? What's that I hear?? O_O
I'm melting due to the heat down here. Reaching almost 90°F everyday >_< I'm getting unwanted tan (and am obsessed with sun block) just cos I walk my dog at noon and you're getting thundersnow and tornadoes? You ought to come down here for a visit :9 The peso is cheap still :B

Is SO wish that it's really her singing the song, there has been some debate about it, but it's SO gorgeous that I hope it's her!

We managed to avoid the snowstorm having graced our country this morning, less than a week after we were allowed to switch from winter tyres to summer tyres (the results were disastrous...). We have been hovering around freezing point for ages here too, but IF it snows here, the car will stay home and we'll be using public transit.

Well, after a foot of snow Friday and Saturday, the sun came out, and it's nearly all melted away. I took my walk outside at noon with no coat, and had to put on the air conditioning in my car on the way home because I was baking from the sun.

And that's what it's like living far away from any ocean!

Okay, I won't tell you about how it was 20 degrees here yesterday (that's 70 in American). Except that I just did. ;)

At least it's melting fast!

It is melting fast. In fact, it was probably in the 60's today and the snow is nearly all gone already. It was a classic spring snow for our area.

Over 20 here yesterday and sunny. A little overcast today, but still warm. But it's supposed to drop significantly in the next few days. I wouldn't be surprised if we got snow in the next week or so too. *kicks fickle weather*

That is a beautiful rendition, but honestly, I'm not sold that it's her voice. Then again, with it being a CD, it could have been recorded & remixed until she got it the way she wanted it (sans the underlying hint of a Scottish accent present on stage), unlike the live performance.

Still, whether or not the CD rendition is her voice, the woman's singing is gorgeous. And I'm thrilled that Simon has taken her under his wing. I too suspect she'll be getting a makeover. Whatever happens, she deserves to be heard. :) Thanks for sharing the latest update.

It seems that it is indeed her, according to news reports and her 'spokesman' (whoever that may be now). I think the thing that made me pretty sure it was her was the way she hits those half-steps so well, which was apparent in both songs. I don't think the little burg she recorded this for had a voice pitch machine to tune her up or down (and don't let Kanye West get hold of her...)

There are so many articles about the social repercussions of her debut. Everyone wants a piece of her success, it seems.

So sad about your snow. Today was our first real spring day, and we had a lovely outing to look at the blossoms. It's Leit's first real time out since he entered the hospital a month ago, so we were really appreciative.

And thanks for the Susan Boyle link. That is a lovely rendition. I hope she's able to keep it up through the competition.

I absolutely love these torch songs.

Hey, do you want an invite to an LJ music comm? I know you're usually one to grab stuff I link, and this place (mossip) has lots of great blogs about different artists. I can invite 5 people, and I thought of you.

Thank you! I would love it. I've haven't been doing much with music lately, but I need to start finding more stuff for the wedding reception. I'm ready!

I don't think the voice sounds the same. Wonder if it's the same person. I like her voice in the Les Mis song better...

Yeah, she said it's her. Ten years ago, though, so I suspect her voice has matured and improved. I love these old ballads, though, so I enjoyed the heck out of it. The way she can hit those half-steps (..."told me you were through with me and...") is just so beautiful!
