geoviki: (OMG - WTF)

I wholly fail at posting. I even missed my own 5 year anniversary on LJ about 10 days ago. I may not be the stellar correspondent that I once was, but I don't intend on going anywhere any time soon. And I love you all!!! *blows kisses*

So these songs are what inspired me to post today, courtesy of a tip from Dinosaur Comics. They are, respectively,

The Most Unwanted Music

and

The Most Wanted Music.

From 'Wired':

An online poll conducted in the '90s set Vitaly Komar, Alex Melamid and David Soldier on a quest to create the most annoying song ever. After gathering data about people's least favorite music and lyrical subjects, they did the unthinkable: they combined them into a single monstrosity, specifically engineered to sound unpleasant to the maximum percentage of listeners. Komar & Melamid and David Soldier's list of undesirable elements included holiday music, bagpipes, pipe organ, a children's chorus and the concept of children in general (really?), Wal-Mart, cowboys, political jingoism, George Stephanopoulos, Coca Cola, bossanova synths, banjo ferocity, harp glissandos, oompah-ing tubas and much, much more. It's actually a fascinating listen, worthwhile for the opera rapping alone.

The "most wanted" version combines the elements the 500 people surveyed said they wanted most -- love, soprano sax, humble ambition, tenor sax, a marriage proposal, cheesy electronic drum fills, working the night shift, string swells, power chords, and saccharine male/female harmonies -- into an easy listening-style adult contemporary sound that could peel the paint off of the Space Shuttle.

Enjoy, sugars!

Well, first the kids scream a bit with bagpipes, then they start in (for the first of many times) at 4:05. Followed by piccolos. Then tubas.

You're kidding this time, aren't you? Because if not, you and I really need to get married!

No, I am not! Any time I dream of friends, you are there. Which is sweet, when you think of it, and yes, we should probably get married now.
