Oh, thank you! I think these three characters have stuck with me for a long time now, since I first read them. Hurt/comfort sucker, that's me! As I was writing the first story, Yui appeared in another serial, with this new character, Atsushi, and his boyfriend, and Yui's really hot brother. The story there is just messy and complicated, just like real men's lives are.
Izumi, in my mind, is pretty damaged. From what I can work out, orphans are not fully accepted in Japanese society. Of course, the original author put him in such a sad place to begin with: parents dead, orphanage, shitty pimp boyfriend, Yakuza guy trying to chuck him on the streets. How he manages to keep going is amazing. He does have this impenetrable sweetness even after everything he's gone through. And Katou just can't let the unfair things in this world pass without trying to fix them.
So I wasn't sure what to do about the smorgasbord line. Is it jarring? Should I change it?
The Daniel story's up next.
And I'm jealous as hell, except it was really warm here today, too. I took my walk sans coat. Snow tonight, though, or so they tell me. :-(
