You know, I really like these stories. There's such an innocence about them, if that makes sense. And I'm able to easily conjure mental images as I'm reading, almost as though it's an actual graphic (though far better written, obviously).

Nice, that. Izumi always puts me in mind of a young, skittish colt, thus "gentled" fits perfectly.
And at the time of reading, "smorgasbord" struck me as a spot-on description, though when I read the earlier comment and considered its use out of written context, it did seem rather amusing. *g*
