geoviki: (Lichtenstein - saw that coming)

Do not read this post. No, really.

B.F. Skinner proved that intermittent reinforcement provides the penultimate behavioral change. Me? I'm the penultimate subject.

Initial condition: I think it's pretty well known that I'm addicted to music these days.

Me: Think I'll update my musical currency with a modicum of [livejournal.com profile] audiography.

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: Here, have some musical heroin instead.

Me: Okay!

Yes, folks, let me point you to the crack that is Pandora. Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems combine to figure out what I like musically and feed me more of it. No more wire-monkey mother substitutes for me - I'm all about cloth (oh, if you get that reference, 10 points to your house of choice!)

Ten more points if you determined that my starting point was Pink Floyd. The current song is playing because the system has determined I like "a subtle use of vocal harmony, syncopated rhythms, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation, and a vocal-centric aesthetic." I couldn't have said it better.

Did you know there's an artist named "Robi Draco Rosa"? How can I not love him?

Did you know there's an artist named "Robi Draco Rosa"?

I did, in fact, know that! Robi was in Menudo with Ricky Martin, and he just happens to be half of the songwriting duo who brought you (in his words) "the Millenium party song from HELL," Livin' La Vida Loca. <g>

Oh my God, thank you for that link, that is absolutely brilliant!!!!!!

Oh this looks cool! I'm in love with Yahoo Launch and this looks similar. Sadly I can't play it with dial-up. *sadness*

TOO NEAT! Thanks for pointing it out :)

Yet another wonderful thing for me to do instead of get a decent GPA. Thanks!

(Can I take ten points from Sparkleypoo instead?)

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
This reminds me of the bad joke: What do they call the person who graduates at the bottom of his/her med school class? Doctor.

GPAs are overrated, I say. No matter what you do now, you'll still have recurring nightmares where you realize have a class you need to take before you can graduate, and you never attended even once, and the final's in 10 minutes, and you can't find the friggin' classroom! For years, you'll have this dream. I'm just sayin'.

Cooommmme to the daaaark siiide....

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
That's kind of careless of me not to warn about that, because I was on dialup myself for nearly a year. Sorry :-(

I'm going to go to sleep now, and I'm going to sleep VERY SOUNDLY just to spite you.

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I am so toast with this. And now, so are you! *evil chuckle* Now we know how the Death Eaters got their start: "Oh, Lucius, check out this cool tattoo I just got..."

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you can sleep soundly NOW, but just you wait.... *tick, tick, tick* ...hear that? It's the sound of your future lying in wait....

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa! I'm thinking you win the internets! I knew the Menudo and Ricky Martin part, and I can sing the melody from "Livin' the Vida Loca" - do you give partial credit?

[identity profile] geoviki.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I reminds me of when music videos first came out in the '80's, and I used to stay up really, really late just waiting to see what the next one might be. And they wouldn't show you the artist's name until near the end to keep you there, too.

[identity profile] urnesha.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Nah. I knew it wouldn't work I was just testing to be sure. I had to stop using Yahoo Launch for the same reason. That made me sad. I had accumulated over 3000 song/artist ratings. That station was so streamlined for me. *wistful sigh*

[identity profile] parthenia14.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
OMFG, that's good. It just played me a track that I loved by a band I've never heard of, with the most fantastic name (I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness).

skips off to optician's.

But hey! It needs a US zip code OMG. Anyone got any spare, or will it know from my IP address?

PS Have a hot water bottle monkey. I know that reference mwahaha.

Gasp! You've lured me over to the Dark Side! But it's so very shiny....

Yes! Early MTV, when they actually played videos. It's the same dynamic, only better.

*nods off from musical heroin*

To quote Trainspotting: "That beats any meat injection. That beats any fucking cock in the world."

Imagine this with a thick Glasgwegian accent and it works, y0.

Like any good addict, I've hooked others right away. Thanks so much for the heads up!
