Do not read this post. No, really.

B.F. Skinner proved that intermittent reinforcement provides the penultimate behavioral change. Me? I'm the penultimate subject.

Initial condition: I think it's pretty well known that I'm addicted to music these days.

Me: Think I'll update my musical currency with a modicum of [livejournal.com profile] audiography.

[livejournal.com profile] primroseburrows: Here, have some musical heroin instead.

Me: Okay!

Yes, folks, let me point you to the crack that is Pandora. Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems combine to figure out what I like musically and feed me more of it. No more wire-monkey mother substitutes for me - I'm all about cloth (oh, if you get that reference, 10 points to your house of choice!)

Ten more points if you determined that my starting point was Pink Floyd. The current song is playing because the system has determined I like "a subtle use of vocal harmony, syncopated rhythms, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation, and a vocal-centric aesthetic." I couldn't have said it better.

Did you know there's an artist named "Robi Draco Rosa"? How can I not love him?

I reminds me of when music videos first came out in the '80's, and I used to stay up really, really late just waiting to see what the next one might be. And they wouldn't show you the artist's name until near the end to keep you there, too.

Yes! Early MTV, when they actually played videos. It's the same dynamic, only better.
