Beautiful icon! Okay, what a fabulous sequel. I kept holding off to read it till I had time, then broke down and read till late last night and then got up early and finished it. Where to begin? Carr was very creepy, great job with the twist at the end with the polyjuice. The transformation in Draco's mind from always saying goodbye to saying hello to Harry in all that he does, and Harry's gentleness with him is beautiful. The letters got me all suitably anxious and intrigued, a nice way to lay out all the different pieces of the plot up front. Daniel, of course, was so much fun to have in the story, and I loved how he was allowed to find out about the wizard world and how it all happened. Up-close muggle reactions to wizards is so much fun! I am very glad that Harry and Draco got their talk in before the end. One of the things I really enjoyed (as did some others) was the theme of Harry and Draco IN a relationship, rather than starting one, and dealing with their issues. It's one of the things I most prize in a story, and there are so few of them that move into this area (and write it well!). Loved, loved, loved the runway stuff with Draco. Androgeny, pink hair, and headdresses! I just love the thought of Draco as a model. And the Harry and Draco scene in the dressing room. Mmmm. The tension in the story was wonderful, and Harry of course is so magnificent. I loved how Daniel describes what he sees of Harry in their relationship (at Daniels apartment after the breakup). Draco's pain about his past and need to hide it, coupled with Harry's fears about his own past, and coming to terms with it with each other was a beautiful continuation of the theme of forgiveness from the previous ATBT. All the wonderful details - like that Blade restaurant, just added to the depth and fun of the fic. Thank you so much for your wonderful writing, and I am so hoping you continue writing for us. Thank God we are coming up on a weekend so I can re-read both stories again!

Thanks for your long, thoughtful review! I always appreciate comments about what worked for you.

I don't know if you read my LJ as I was writing this and described some of the process, but I write all over the place. Not in order at all. I think the Blade scene was the first finished. But I wrote it from Snape's POV, then completely rewrote it from Draco's when it became apparent that he'd be the better choice. And Daniel's big scene at the end - that pup was rewritten three times, first from Dean's POV, then Draco's and finally Daniel's. Daniel, I knew, ws the one who should reveal it all, and it works so much better.

I was happy to see you liked some things that are commonly hard for readers to get past. First, many folks like first-time getting together, which has already happened in ATBT. It's a little harder to hook people with an established relationship (even one with problems like this one). I'm glad you enjoyed them in this sequel. Also, I didn't realize how big a cliche that Draco-is-a-model could be, so I'm glad you didn't find it too trite. Thank [livejournal.com profile] kattiya, who used to work in the industry and beta'd all those scenes, keeping them as true-to-life as possible.

Thanks again!
