Stuck in Detroit
Jun. 13th, 2009 12:14 pmI mentioned to a few of you that I was spending some time in Detroit to care for my mom after her foot surgery. I expected to be on the 9:40 flight this morning to go back home, but instead I'm at the public library for an hour fix of internet. The recovery isn't going well - her operation was Monday and today's Saturday, and she still cannot walk at all, or use her walker, or get into bed, out of bed, to the bathroom, or make anything to eat without me being here.
Sadly, even though I'd love to get together for a visit with all the cool Detroit people I know, I can't leave the house for very long. My one big trip out was to Brighton to visit my mother-in-law, who is herself in a rehab facility.
So I'm staying until Tuesday and I'd so much rather be home than here. I won't go into detail except to say I'm going crazy here and have dialed back any emotion just so I can get through my time. I consider it purgatory, really.
Turning off comments since I have no way to answer.
