Random acts of posting - for some reason I need to tell you these things.

One - Last night I had a vivid dream about comforting a weeping chicken. In case you thought I was normal.

Two - If you have a pressing need to read my very first fanfic in Russian, have at it: Chaining - my Snape gen thing that I ripped off and stuck in 'A Thousand Beautiful Things'. Thanks to Weis for this.

Three - Do you want to know what that pervy congressman from Florida really said in those emails? Here they are. I know I read things like this in fanfiction, but I do know the difference between fictional characters and real 17 year olds. I cannot stomach this behavior. To tell a poor 17-year-old boy that yes, every guy measures his erect dick, is beyond the pale!

Four - And from the same source - Slate - is a pertinent discussion over plagiarism comparing Ian McEwan's Atonement with a source. Definitely check out the sidebar, here. This example is defended against plagiarism by the likes of Thomas Pynchon, John Updike, Martin Amis, Thomas Keneally, Zadie Smith, and Margaret Atwood. I have my own ideas, and by reading the example, you can have yours, too. And here's another article about Google's book search that anticipates discovering more plagiarism by published authors. I was happy to host a lovely discussion about leaving concrit for festfics last week, but this time I don't want to re-initiate a wankfest on plagiarism, so I'm shutting off comments and asking the newsletters not to link. This is just FYI. (Sadly, if you needed to comment on the chicken dream, you'll have to wait.)

OMG, so behind on reccing these stories, and this is only a drive-by. There'll be more when I get two minutes to rub together.

(Also, you can comment about my weird chicken dream from last post if you feel moved.)

Under The Cold, Wan Moon H/D. Probably has the most canon-like way to pair the guys that I've ever read. Fascinating plot, terrific characterization of Draco in particular. Long, but I didn't even notice until I was done and looked at the clock. A definite must-read!

Splinter HP/SS. (and aren't you thrilled I'm reccing Harry 'n' Snape? I do from time to time). Dystopia. Nothing is fully explained, but enough is described to give us a tantalizing view of the wizarding world.

A Theory of Glass Remus/Bill and Remus/Sirius, mainly. AUs - plural. Another great plot and even greater execution of it. This one's Remus-centric and weaves canon in very well. I sighed in bliss and not a little envy at the writer's talent.

More later...
