Well, fandom, what can I say? I go off on vacation for a little bit and Stuff Happens while I was gone. And I thought I specifically mentioned that you were to keep quiet and calm and well-mannered and not post too much so that I couldn't keep track once I got back.

First, I have not connected yet with [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk about her LJ deletion, so I'm as in the dark as the rest of you. And yes, I know that many of the links to her LJ stories on my entry are now dead, and I'm sorry. I hope to be able to find out more at some point. But like so many of you who've emailed and posted to me about this, I'm every bit as devastated at the deletion.

The Msscribe thing? I came to fandom in the midst of this, and it's like someone finally gave me the last pages of a mystery book I pulled off the shelf at someone else's cabin and never finished. But I can't grasp, on the emotional level needed, the bizarre thought processes of wanting to be a BNF this desperately.

As if to prove my BNF indifference, I've been writing a bit on a tiny Daniel sequel, but it was summarily pre-empted by a bunny for a fandom of, uh, one (me). I'm working on the story I've wanted to write for a couple of years to accompany the book by John Le Carre: "Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy". And it's a pairing no one will know or even give a rat's ass about (Peter Guilliam/Fawn), but I have to do it. And I don't imagine a single one of you will read it, either, and don't apologize for that. When I'm an old bat in the nursing home, I'll pull it out and enjoy it, so there you go.

Except I had to hand-write it, which I've discovered I don't do as well with. Waters of March was mostly handwritten, but that was about the last time I tried it. This little story was penned on the lake, with my Walkman on and a glass or two of wine to help the process. Which means it needs typing. Soon, my lambs. And then I'll finish the Daniel one, which is finally so far removed from HP characters that I won't need a disclaimer and that can actually be described as original fic.

Back to playing catch-up!
