Practising the Same Religion - FIC - HP/DM
Jan. 5th, 2006 11:18 pmMy secret's out. I wrote mpreg. Yeah, that was me.
For my next fic, I shall attempt Draco as a rentboy Veela vampire.
That's one of the reasons I took a second stab at writing for
merry_smutmas - each writer/artist gets to try something we might not attempt otherwise. I always thought that mpreg was one genre that was safe from me - I can't see the appeal myself, having endured two fpregs where I became best friends with the toilet. But after I was assigned
coffeejunkii to write for, I discovered exactly how much she adores it, so I dove in. No, actually, I wibbled a lot to
painless_j, and she eventually reassured me that I could do it. But once I made the decision to try it, I gave it my best shot. So no, it's not crackfic (for a change), and it ended up on the long side. That's because it took a lot to set up a plot I could believe. It may be the most non-mpreggy mpreg ever written. I'm no longer a virgin, either, with first-person POV.
I have some of the fandom's best beta editors, let me tell you.
ajhalluk and
ravurian and
parthenia14 and yes, I corralled
painless_j (payback, my dear!). And they all took it quite seriously, and pulled me up short, and didn't let me get away with anything careless. I owe them a lot for all their help - thanks, you wonderful people.
The title is snagged from an unrelated George Michael song, Fastlove, about the manifold benefits of the one-night-stand. I liked the phrase, though.

HP/DM - Drama - rated R
Summary: Harry thought he knew how far Draco Malfoy would go to save his family, but nothing could have prepared him for what he would witness this time.
I uploaded it to Skyehawke, too, about 10 minutes before the site went down for the weekend.
(oh, if you're looking for the rest of my fics, they're on Arithmancy, too.)
