Actually, I think the enormous amount of give-and-take we go through, either specific to our own fics or in general, gives us a clear advantage in our writing. After reading parts 1 & 2 of JKR's interview, I think she's too isolated when she writes. For example, there's a fascinating discussion about the ethical and moral perspective of the twins' behaviour on AJ Hall's LJ, here. I think JKR probably has never though that deeply about the topic, honestly.
An aside: If it's 86/30 degrees in this room and 93/34 degrees outside, is it worth opening the window? Still, I'm (barely) cooler than
