Time keeps on slipping into the future
All you peeps on my flist seem to every-so-casually mention trotting off to Trader Joe's. Did you know it causes me grief and woe? I stew in my blatant jealousy! For you see, the nearest Trader Joe's is a good 7 hour drive away (in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to be exact). I know it seems inexplicable that Denver doesn't have one, but alas, it is so. Hell, even my mom in suburban Detroit has one, and isn't that so unfair? When I visit, I have to be re-e-e-ally selective about what I buy or else I'll go over the suitcase weight limit. I usually go for the curry sauce.
There's an Ikea near my Mom's as well. Our nearest Ikea is in Chicago. As A.J. Hall knows (because I assured her of this very truthiness), Chicago is close to Denver, but not so close that I can zip those thousand miles to visit Ikea easily. And again, the only things I can buy while I'm visiting must be small; it's painful. I have quite nice bread-bag clips, for example. Oh, and teeny spatulas.
Spring is finally here. I know this because it's either 70 degrees or snowing, often in the same 24 hours.
Today was my retirement lunch at work. My last official day is Friday. Yeah, it's weird, but I only angst over the change about an hour a week these days. Mr. Geoviki pointed out that if my employer wants to offer me a great retirement benefit at this early an age, I'd be wasting it if I didn't take it. I like the way that man thinks.
Everyone asks me what I'm going to do now.
I do too.
No, not really. But some of the things on my list are kinda mundane (sell some stuff on Ebay), and some I can't discuss with the masses (finish a slash story and edit some yaoi).
But I do plan to post more! (oh, oops, maybe I shouldn't threaten you that way...)

Someone told me they'd investigated our shocking lack, and it's cuz the TJ warehouses are too far away from us. We need a lifeline of them to reach us!

I really appreciate how very lucky I've been in my career choice. Believe me, I'm grateful.

I saw you registered for Con.txt! Yay. I can't wait to see you.

Yeah, I finally worked out the crap around traveling to our family reunion, which was a big messy hassle. Now I can work on the next trip. The airfares from here to National are currently outrageous, so I may end up at Baltimore, but I'm really good at mass transit and do not fear transferring trains or whatever it takes. Or I might need to stop in Milwaukee or somewhere off the direct path.

If you come in to Baltimore on Wednesday, I can probably come get you. You could stay with me, but I'll be crazed. Thursday is hell. You can also take a cab from BWI to the con for around $50.
Don't come into Dulles.

A reminder from the folks at Starmaker: they can't wait for you to join them!
Happy retirement!

(NO, you're NOT a talentless hack, I've read worse on SMM! And, btw, I LOVE Afro Celt Sound System!)

Come back to Michigan! We have Nino Salvaggio's, too, which I think is better than Trader Joe's!

And yes, I am putting off moving until then just so I can outfit a new place cheaply.
I do feel your pain on the Trader Joe's issue; some things just aren't fair.
Also, congratulations on your retirement!

My daughter and I even investigated ordering online and having it shipped. Some things they'll do, but not the coolio furniture.
And thank you!

I don't think asking for one TJs in the whole of metro Denver is too much to ask, right? Just one...
But we are getting an Ikea in 2 more years. *holds breath*

I LOVE being retired!!
Back on the west coast (near TJ's and Whole Foods, Ikea and Andronicos) after several years in the Ozarks... where there is NOTHING in the way of good food stores (except for the local very pricey COOP).
Hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I have/am!
