Day of Silence
Apr. 20th, 2004 11:17 amThanks,
olivia_lupin for the reminder!
National Day of Silence
My daughter is participating in this tomorrow at her high school. I'll pass along any encouraging messages you'd care to leave. I'm sure she'll get grief for her stance.
The group she's in, Peace Jam (a national group supporting the goals of (e.g.) the Nobel Peace Prize), has a large component of gay and lesbian students. She is decidedly not. As a matter of fact, she is a fairly conservative Christian (I am a very liberal one). Of course I've talked with her at length about the topic. She is eager to stand up tomorrow at HS and support others, because she is adamant that no one should be discriminated against. Yay, Kirsten! I'm proud of her.
She's at the memorial service for Columbine HS tonight. Columbine High School is nearby.
Now why don't we read about kids like her in the paper?
