I loved the interplay between Alec and Maurice, and the language was beautifully in character. Maurice was his usual obstinate self, and I liked how Scudder wouldn't let him use him as a servant.
The theme of friendship was really, really lovely. And your narrator's realisation tied in nicely. In fact, all your characters were motivated, three dimensional objects. I particularly liked Evelyn.
I've never had a fic dedicated to me before. I'm giggling like a schoolgirl. And talking of schoolgirls, you described Cheltenham Ladies College to a tee - beautiful architecture, just like most of Cheltenham. Although I believe the pupils are a little more rowdy these days (rampant partying, so I believe)...
