My first LJ meme:
Ah, this is where being older is to my advantage. Of the 500 top albums listed in Rolling Stone magazine, I own(ed) 97 of them.
Well, I counted all of the ones I first had on vinyl (usually the 60's, 70's and 80's) or on cassette (the 80's), even though I might have not made the transition to CD.
My very first album from the list: Meet the Beatles. My sister and I bought this together for 3 dollars and some change in 1963. We saw them in concert in 1964 in Detroit.
My most recent album: Allman Bros. at Fillmore East (finally made the move to CD about 3 weeks ago). Thirty years later, I still grieve that Duane Allman died so young.
In between I had a great fondness for Motown (growing up in Detroit; I still love it), California folk-rock, electric guitar, acid rock, blues, reggae, jazz, and new wave. Only thing I don't care for: rap. Only thing my son listens to: rap.
