Your post reminds me of my parents a little bit. I'm the youngest of 3. At my college orientation they also had a program for the parents on drop off day. They had a university rep talk about what their kid would be doing for orientation and as a college freshmen and then had a psychologist speak. The psychologist began to talk about cutting the apron strings and empty nest and that parents might be feeling lonely, sad, lost... Apparently my parents were laughing so hard that they were politely asked to leave. (so they say)
